List of most important open technical points

Each topic has topic expert names assigned. This does not mean that no manpower is needed! Manpower is always welcome! If you are interested to contribute to one of these topics or you have other topics in mind please contact the Recoil group convenors (Andreas, Sergey).

Known Features

(draft 24.4.2009 by CR, open for suggestions)

General

  • Quadrant 2: low efficiency in outer SFT (about half of Q2 affected)
  • Quadrant 2: SSD O2N dead

06e

07c

  • Quadrant 1: SSD calibration sub-optimum
  • M7: in search of 2SP, the spacepoints used in the 3SPs are removed
  • M7: momentum distribution for (Stopped)Proton hypothesis: unsmooth behavior at p=0.6 GeV/c (step). Fixed for all later productions.
  • M7: theta distribution shows gap at pi/2. Fixed for all later productions.

SSD

  • the deuteron/triton mystery in the hydrogen data (Andreas)
  • uncertainty of energy calibration (Andreas)
  • efficiency

SFT

  • clarification of efficiency problem in Q2 (keyword: "6 semi-dead PMTs") (Roberto)
  • define (from efficiency studies) and apply TDC cut on track level (in hrc production) (Roberto/Weilin)
  • data quality: define by hardware and proton/pion efficiency (vs. run) (Roberto/Weilin/Tibor)

PD

  • strip clustering (Alberto)
  • separation of tracked/untracked clusters (Charlotte)
  • energy reconstruction of photons and pizeros (acceptance) (Charlotte)
  • PID (proton/pion separation for higher momenta) (Hyon-Suk)
  • noise model (Hyon-Suk)
  • efficiency (Hyon-Suk)

Tracking

  • Misalignment (?) of Q1. Seems mainly to come from SFT internal alignment, but not 100% explainable by SFT-only (also SSD)
  • Ghost and clone tracks.
    • Can we rely only on 4-spacepoint tracks? ==> those studies are all linked to physics studies
  • finalize "direct" DER method (Joanthan)
  • merge common tracking with DER (Sergey)

PID

  • Release of RD PIDlib, v1
  • When new MC available: compare parent distributions (the ones which enter RD PIDlib v1 were determined from real data) to MC

Monte Carlo

  • OFFICIAL physics production(s) needed with the same XTC flags that were used for 07c (keyword: preparation for PRC)
    • Elke presently collects all pieces together, will make an hmc (and uDST writer) test and will then produce Pythia and gmc_DVCS productions

Physics Analysis

  • 3 summer student projects are expected to be "seed and speed-up" of physics analysis: first look to exclusive processes with the new 07c production
  • Some recoil PhD students start working on recoil physics analysis in parallel (or soon)

More Notes

  • Kinematic fitting: ongoing discussion. Sergey plans to attack it after other commissioning points have been solved
  • Acceptance + efficiency (SSD&&SFT) for recoiling protons

July 2, 2008

SSD

  • the deuteron/triton mystery in the hydrogen data (Andreas)
  • uncertainty of energy calibration (Andreas)
  • efficiency

SFT

  • clarification of efficiency problem in Q2 (Roberto)

Rather use cluster than spacepoint level for efficiency studies?

  • define (from efficiency studies) and apply TDC cut on track level (in production) (Roberto/Weilin)
  • data quality: define by hardware and proton/pion efficiency (vs. run) (Roberto/Weilin/Tibor)

Can we rely only on 4-spacepoint tracks? ==> those studies are all linked to physics studies

  • finalize "direct" DER method (Joanthan)

General

  • MC: OFFICIAL production needed which everybody uses, with the same XTC flags that were used for 07b(new).
